Some people have asked me what it's like to spend Christmas in Zambia. Let's just say there appears to be less build up than the Christmas fanfare at home. Apparently the local supermarkets and even the bank will be open on Christmas day!For most Zambians, Christmas day apparently involves Church and then "getting very drunk". Oh dear! I'm not quite sure what my day will involve, but it will be very strange not spending it at home with family, the Queen's speech, a mince pie and some snow flakes (not to mention copious amounts of Baileys and Quality Streets...yum).There's been talk here of some VSOs slaughtering a chicken and brewing some home made wine. I'm not sure what order that will be in though. I've even got Boxing day sorted with a trip to a friend's farm to spread some fertiliser on a 10 acre plot of Maize, so all in all it will be a very unique experience. Whatever I will be doing, I will be thinking of you and I hope you all have a great festive season. If all else fails I could also try and tune my radio into the very fuzzy BBC worldservice for the latest queen's speech and sit under the mango tree wishing for snow. I will keep you posted.
