It’s been a busy week at my placement at Chipata Dzithandizeni Nutrition Group. All week, we've been at Provident House in town trying to set up Microsoft publisher on my laptop, so that Mike (another VSO) could offer us a training session at the office. Finally after a few compatibility problems, we now have access to the software on my laptop and Mike kindly came in today to demonstrate how he has used the publishing software for his organisation. It’s a simple tool and we’re looking forward to making a start on producing some promotional material, which will aid us to promote the work and vision of the organisation. We couldn’t have got the software without the hard work of Martha and Christine at Provident, who helped me all week to get the resources. Thank you ladies! We’ve also been busy working together to identify key stakeholders of the organisation using a VSO stakeholder analysis tool. This has been really useful for me in trying to understand how the organisation works and which groups of the community have a vested interest in the Nutrition Group.Tomorrow I’ll be visiting one of the nutrition projects which is currently being implemented in one of the villages where we work. The purpose of the project is to educate and inform people on good nutrition. I’m really looking forward to visiting the village community and I’ll ensure that I take lots of good photos and videos which will help to promote the organisation. We’ve agreed that we’ll use some of the photos for the promotional flyer, so the pressure is on to make sure they look good! It’s been a really interesting week. We’ve had our weekly World AIDS day meetings and even the President of Zambia came to visit the town! I’ve also really enjoyed working with my colleagues who are all dedicated and passionate about the work. Lets hope tomorrow is a success.
