Last week all Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOS) including my organisation attended a meeting at the council to discuss how we are going to co-ordinate the activities for World Aids Day, which will be held on 1st December. Chipata’s event will be held at the DK stadium and will involve a marching band, food, dancing and inter-company sporting activities to mark the special day. It was interesting to meet lots of people and be part of such an important event. Dzithandizeni Nutrition Group will be working with 7 other organisations to provide catering for the event and today I attended my first catering committee meeting at the Zambia Red Cross building. I was asked to lead the meeting with a prayer. Having never prayed in public for others I immediately struggled for words, but somehow they came through in the end andthere was raptuous applause when I said AMEN, so I’m sure my prayers went down a treat. An hour and a few late attendees later, we were able to come up with a fully scoped budget and we agreed that we are going to work together to deliver the most co-ordinated catering facilities Chipata has everseen since the Queen came to town. We’re all really looking forward to the day, but at this stage I can still there’s a lot more to do. I will keep you posted!
