Oh :o/Yesterday the BBC posted an article entitledAfrica Fury Over Rwanda Sterilisation Bill. Today, the exact same link (I know, because I bookmarked it) now points to an article entitled:Rwanda Denies Sterilisation Plans. Bit of a swift turn-around. The gist of it being:Rwanda has strongly denied reports that its parliament is considering a draft law which would forcibly sterilise people who are mentally disabled.Damascene Ntawukuriryayo, deputy speaker of parliament, was responding to a call by US-based activists Human Rights Watch to scrap the proposed law.He also told the BBC that plans for HIV testing before couples get married are strictly voluntary, not compulsory...This is theHuman Rights Watchangle, or at least it was yesterday - who knows about today. It's interesting reading for the disability sector at the moment. In home news, the results of a survey for theHope Not Hatecampaign are in and they released a wee video:Full linkhere. So if you want to get involved, looks like there will be local initiatives starting-up soon.Disclaimer: all views written on this blog are my own and are not necessarily representative of VSO.
