Now I know I'm a big wuss. But some how, I have managed to spend my life avoiding innoculations......intentionally. When I first met my doctor a few months ago to discuss the required injections he couldn't quite understand why my medical record was bereft of any details. "Surely you had MMR he enquired?" "No", I said. "Well what about BCG at school?" "Missed that one too", I replied. But not now - unless i'm happy to get some serious illnesses over the next 12 months - so i've spent the last 3 months catching up on my last 35 years. Polio, Diptheria, Tetanus, Rabies, Hepatitus A, Hepatitus B, Typhoid, Japanese Encephilitis...the list goes on and on...oh and a HIV test (negative - they said...although I grew up thinking negative was bad, in medicalworld, negative is good). With my final injections tomorrow, I'm now fully dosed with all the poisons in my body ready to fight whatever comes my way. Not! Delhi currently has an outbreak of Dengue Fever aka Breakbone fever (so called as it feels as if every bone in your body has been broken) for which there isn't any vaccination available. Oh great!
