Right, well, I haven’t written any blog entries for a long time. This is due to a combination of a general lack of NEPA and internet access; actually having some work to do(!); being really quite miserable and hence in un-writey mood; being exhausted (but joyful) thanks to England’s efforts in the Ashes. Most of these factors haven’t actually changed – but have been added to by a sensation of niggling guilt for failing to post anything - so I’m not going to write anything interesting, but just put some pictures of beasties up because they’re better than anything I’ve got to say for myself.Charming beetle in the washing upReally fabulous swarm of ants (big and small) in our compoundWith the fondest memories of lovely leopard gecko chum Wilfrid, a couple of the lizards I love to love.I’m not sure whether to feel more sorry for the girl or the snake, both on display for tourist cash in the Zaria durbar. Some classic camel action in ZariaSome manner of peculiar bug– probably dead, certainly upside-down – in the bathA whole new species– the red and gold Gulder bug – which I’ve named for the beer it appeared on and resembles. Some classic locust action. The tiniest lizard I ever did see– though it’s not really obvious on this photo.I’m completely in love with these kite-like birds, which call like eagles and circle around in the middle of the day. Impossible (for an incompetent like me) to get a proper shot of the buggers, though.I don’t think I say enough about the lovely huge butterflies here. This poor fella couldn’t get out of a bus in Abuja. And finally, one of the magnificent, vicious looking, spiders. Just for some scale, the one next to it is probably about the size of a 5 pence piece.
