Unfortunately there has been a noticeable break to my stories of life in Zambia. In November 2010, just after my last entry, I received the shocking news that my father had suffered a stroke and was critically ill in hospital. By the time I reached home to the UK, he had sadly passed away. Nothing in life prepares you for such news and the moments after.I would like to take the opportunity to pay tribute to my Dad who was my best friend. Words cannot describe what an amazing character he was, full of life, wisdom and joy. He was an adamant follower of my blog and seemed to know more about what was going on in Zambia than I did! I would like to dedicate this web page to him for it was my Dad who always encouraged me to write about my adventures in Zambia and I know he’s proud of what has been achieved.Thank you to VSO Zambia and VSO Malawi for their amazing support during what has been such a difficult time for myself and my family. Thank you also to my VSO friends in Chipata, Rosie, Frances, Alan and Leon for keeping me together and paying my bills whilst I was away! Evryone has been so supportive– all my friends and family back home and particularly the local community of Chipata. When I made the difficult decision to return to Chipata to continue my placement, the community all welcomed me with open arms, which shows that during the most difficult personal times, humanity can show itself in such a positive light. In Memorium, Peter Milton Washington 19/07/41– 17/11/2010
